Évora (Cork, History, Food and Wine)

My personal favorite Daytrip that will allow you to explore Évora, the main city of the region of Alentejo, famous for its cork oak trees and the cork industry, the walled city filled with history that dates from the Romans (1st century a.C), delicious food and one of the biggest wine regions in Portugal that produces some of the best wine.

In this Tour we will visit a family owned Cork Factory, where you will see in first hand all of the process that the cork goes through before reaching the final product. After this we will visit the historical center of Évora including the Cathedral and Roman Temple. Lunch will be in a traditional Portuguese restaurant with local products where you can also add a wine pairing. Before going back to Lisbon we can visit a local winery with a possibility of a wine and olive oil tasting.

Fátima and Tomar (Religion and History)

This Daytrip will allow you to visit Fátima that is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world, attracting around four million pilgrims annually from all continents. In the Fátima Sanctuary you will be able to visit the Chapel of Apparitions, the Basilica Nossa Senhora do Rosário and the Basilica Santíssima Trindade.

Tomar is a charming town, that was known as being the headquarters of the Templar Knights and later the birthplace of the Order of Christ. It is possible to visit the Convento de Tomar, a structure built in the 12th Century and one of the most unique monuments in Portugal.

Óbidos and Nazaré (Medieval History and Giant Waves)

Óbidos and Nazaré (Medieval History and Giant Waves)

In this Tour you will step back in time within the walls of this perfectly preserved medieval village, where charming whitewashed houses with blue and yellow accents line a labyrinth of narrow, cobbled streets. Once a wedding gift to Portuguese queens, Óbidos invites you to walk its ancient ramparts for scenic views and sample the local cherry liqueur, ginjinha, often served in an edible chocolate cup.

After this we will visit one of the world’s top surf destinations, Nazaré, home to the giant waves that can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet). We will also visit the center and the famous Praia da Nazaré.
